Special Interest Groups : Managers in Education Group Chair 2005 : Mark Robertson SIG contact details
The skills of educational managers align very closely to the skills required by managers in the broader business sector. As educational organisations increasingly apply corporate models to the practice of managing a school, opportunities for transfer from one sector to another become a reality. More and more professional managers are moving into the eduction sector whilst educators are finding roles for themselves in the wider business world. Educational managers need a variety of interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills to meet the challenges of a growing, changing, demanding educational environment. They need, amongst other things, to be able to build a collaborative and productive work environment, to recruit and retain high quality employees, to demonstrate a balanced and objective approach to solving problems and to manage and encourage innovation and change. Throughout the year this group will focus on broad range of management issues and initiatives for managers in the education sector. MEG meetings are held on the first Monday of each month from March to November. Managers
