How will this provide workplace advantages for me?

In learning the principles and techniques to develop, deliver and assess adult vocational training, you will understand how to:
• Address specific competencies and requirements
• Assess individuals against competencies
• Develop, deliver and assess training programs
• Conduct workplace assessments

Designed for

Those currently in a training role.
The intensive nature of this program means that it is designed for trainers with some experience who wish to maximise their training development and delivery experience.
The program will also assume that you have basic computer skills, as well as good literacy and communication skills.

Program structure

This course is conducted one day a week for eight weeks, with a further 12 weeks allowed to complete the assessment. The program is divided into five modules, each of which has an assigned assessment task.

Assessment and work load

To successfully complete the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you will need to:
• Design and develop a learning program (ie. an outline or roadmap of learning) for a group of people with a common workplace training need
• Develop training sessions (ie. a small section of training of 30 minutes to two hours) and session plans (ie. a set of notes and prompts for the trainer) for part of your learning program
• Develop the learning resources for part of your program
• Deliver one 1 hour group based training session
• Deliver one individual training session
• Develop assessment items (ie. processes and documents) to assess the competence of individuals These tasks will all be completed using a Training Package ie. a set of national standards for job performance, ideally one related to your work.
Time will be spent on days One and Two of the course looking at Training Packages and selecting relevant packages for your use.
You should be prepared to spend at least four to eight hours between each class consolidating class work and assigned tasks. You should also be prepared to spend considerable time, over the twelve weeks allowed after the face-to-face component is completed, to develop your assessment portfolio.
