Mentioning the word ‘finance’ is often a cue for collective
groaning, but it really is important that everyone in an
organisation has a basic understanding of finance in order
to appreciate the impact of their actions on profitability.
This program has been designed to inject a sense of fun into finance and it
starts with a fictitious character called Nick Nelson.
The class is encouraged to sort out the woes of Nick (a financial jargonchallenged
chap) and then apply the same principles to a company’s financial
statements. Participants work in teams playing a computerised game where
the objective is to maximise profitability.
