Business Writing Skills 2012

When you sit down to write, do you suffer from writer’s
block, have trouble organising your thoughts, or would
you like to brush up on your writing skills?

This program will help you to produce reader-oriented letters, emails, short
reports and other everyday business documents with greater ease, confidence
and effectiveness.

Duration
Two consecutive days

Pre-work
Participants will be asked to bring samples of their own written business
letters, reports or emails for hands-on discussion.

Designed for
Those who are new to writing business documents or who are looking to
improve their skills.

• Planning and organising a written communication
• Plain English, grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Writing conventions
• Using the appropriate style and tone
• Reader-focused writing

Learning outcomes
• Plan the structure of a document to ensure correct information flow
• Produce concise letters, emails and reports
• Adjust your writing style to suit the requirements of the topic and the reader
• Review and proofread the document
• Plan, organise and structure written communications in various styles and
formats using correct and appropriate language
• Present written communications in styles and to the standards required by
the workplace
